Meet Liza Goodwin
"Every vintage tells its own story."
Liza Goodwin has spent her career crafting wines that reflect the character of the land they come from. Growing up in an agricultural family, she always knew she wanted to work with nature, eventually becoming one of South Africa's pioneering female Sauvignon Blanc winemakers.
Today, she leads winemaking at Fryer's Cove on the Cape West Coast, where the cool Atlantic Ocean, rugged coastline and unique terroir shape every bottle. Her philosophy is simple: intervene as little as possible and allow nature to tell the story of each vintage.
The Wine: Doring Bay Sauvignon Blanc
Bright, fresh and beautifully expressive, this Sauvignon Blanc captures everything that makes the West Coast so unique. Crisp citrus flavours, refreshing minerality and vibrant fruit create a wine that's elegant, approachable and unmistakably coastal.

Meet Praisy Dlamini & the Women Behind HER
HER Wine Collection began with a bold vision. A group of Black women working across the Cape wine industry recognised that together they could create something truly unique—a wine collection grown, made, marketed and distributed by women. Their mission was to celebrate resilience, opportunity and the power of women supporting one another.
Leading this vision is Praisy Dlamini, General Manager and Winemaker. Originally from KwaZulu-Natal, Praisy studied winemaking in the Cape and has dedicated her career to crafting wines that reflect optimism, determination and authenticity. Together with the HER team, she represents a new generation of women breaking barriers and reshaping South Africa's wine industry.

The Wine: HER Rose
Crafted from Chenin Blanc and Pinotage, HER Rosé is fresh, elegant and expressive.
Ripe pear and white peach from the Chenin Blanc are beautifully complemented by delicate strawberry and candyfloss notes from the Pinotage, creating a vibrant rosé that's both refreshing and approachable.

For Senior Winemaker Heidi Dietstein, every vintage begins long before the grapes reach the cellar. It's a journey rooted in patience, respect for nature and an understanding that exceptional wine starts in the vineyard.
As part of Spier Wine Farm's award-winning winemaking team, Heidi combines traditional craftsmanship with modern precision to create wines that are expressive, balanced and true to their South African terroir. Together with her colleagues, she shares Spier's philosophy that winemaking isn't about prestige—it's about purpose. Every bottle should honour the land, the people who nurture it and the moments shared around the table.
The Wine: Spier Merlot
Elegant and approachable, the Spier Merlot is a medium-bodied red that showcases inviting aromas of ripe red and black berries, layered with subtle hints of mint. On the palate, silky tannins and a refreshing finish create a wine that's beautifully balanced and effortlessly enjoyable. The grapes are sourced from vineyards across the Western Cape, where coastal influences and diverse soils contribute to the wine's complexity and character.
